Recognizing the great importance of early childhood education and development programs and services, the State of Mississippi established the State Early Childhood Advisory Council (SECAC) to serve the children and families of Mississippi. SECAC exists to support a coordinated system of quality care and education with comprehensive supports to enable school success and lifelong learning.
Appointed by the Governor, members of the Mississippi State Early Childhood Advisory Council (SECAC) serve as Governor Reeves’ advisors on issues pertaining to early childhood education and care for Mississippi’s children from birth to school entry. SECAC was established to fulfill requirements in the federal Head Start Act, which was passed in 2007.
